If you're seeing a "Failed to connect to voice server" error, it usually relates to system time, network restrictions, or permission issues. Here's how to fix it.
🖥️ PC Suggested Fixes
✅ 1. Sync Your System Clock
An out-of-sync system clock can prevent secure server communication.
-
Open System Settings > Date & Time
-
Press “Sync Now” under “Synchronize your clock”
🔥 2. Check Firewall / Antivirus Settings
-
Ensure Phasmophobia is allowed through your firewall
-
Temporarily disable antivirus software and test (if safe to do so)
-
Add the game as an exception in your antivirus/firewall settings
🛠️ 3. Run as Administrator
Permissions can block voice chat from functioning correctly.
-
Run Steam as Administrator
-
Navigate to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Phasmophobia -
Right-click
Phasmophobia.exe→ Properties > Compatibility
→ Check "Run this program as an administrator"
🌐 4. Network Restrictions
Some ISPs, schools, or countries may restrict VOIP or UDP traffic.
-
If you're on college Wi-Fi, in a restricted country, or behind a strict NAT, try a VPN.
-
⚠️ Always check your local laws regarding VPN usage first.
